Rooftop Decks in Las Vegas by CalAtlantic Homes

Rooftop Decks are Growing in Popularity

For years, rooftop decks have been a key and popular feature of hotels, large pubs, office towers and high rises. Now they are making a big splash in newer suburban single-family homes in and close to Las Vegas.

It seems homeowners love the idea of sundowner cocktails and morning yoga on the roof of their home, and why not? It’s a fantastic addition to have a rooftop deck from where you can sit and watch the sun set slowly over the mountains.

In a community like Summerlin in Las Vegas, you can enjoy the stunning mountain and valley views from up on high. One company to that designs several homes with amazing rooftop decks is CalAtlantic, who popularized them in Sin City.

The modern idea of rooftop decks on suburban homes really rose to popularity in 2016 in Palm Springs, but they have been around for years. When Craftsman-era homes were at their peak in California, they often had rooftop decks because sunlight and fresh air had become popular as part of a healthy lifestyle. However, they were susceptible to leaks back then. Now, however, with modern building products and integrated home design, leaks are not an issue.

Rooftop Patios Impact Your Las Vegas Home Value

Las Vegas homeowners can sit back and enjoy the view with a cool drink in hand, knowing rooftop decks are also an excellent home investment.

In 2016, a rooftop patio would add approximately $30,000-$50,000 to a home’s value or 6-8 of a home’s total value. Moreover, having a rooftop deck can help sell a home up to 50 faster because it’s such a standout feature. The costs vary, but usually start at $25,000 and go up from there depending on how fancy the deck is or what additions it has (some include BBQ’s, lavish outdoor kitchens and gas fireplaces).

But keep in mind rooftop decks only have value when there’s something to see like mountains, a river, a valley or the ocean. When you’ve got nothing to look at, a rooftop patio loses its value.

CalAtlantic Homes - A Local Rooftop Deck Specialist

That’s why you’ll notice several CalAtlantic homes designed and constructed in Summerlin’s popular Paseos Village have a rooftop deck option to take advantage of the elevated location of the village’s western edge (the Capistrano and Sarasota areas). The views of Red Rock Canyon, the mountains and sunsets are simply stunning.
